NFA'S Commitment to Training

A major aim of the NFA is the development of professional skills and attitudes across the wider industry. As such, the association has an ongoing commitment to education within the industry at the installer, retailer and distributor levels. In real terms, this commitment is expressed through significant financial support for training organised through the New Zealand Flooring Industry Training Organisation (Flooring ITO)

Ongoing education through the Flooring ITO provides industry members with meaningful programmes of learning that add value to flooring businesses across New Zealand. In addition, training programmes offered through the Flooring ITO ensure the ongoing development of skill levels for the industry. Current qualifications offered by the Flooring ITO have been designed to reflect current and future needs of the industry. As an example, through the National Certificate in Flooring, industry members gain valuable skills and knowledge of resilient flooring, retail skills, substrate preparation, soft flooring, fine sanding and applied finishes and wood flooring.

Looking to the future, the NFA has clearly identified the need for industry members to be better prepared to meet the challenges of running competitive and successful businesses. Accordingly, the Flooring ITO is currently developing business management training to meet this demand. This training which will be available towards the end of 2002, will provide professional development across a broad range of commercial,
contract, accounting and resource management areas.
